Insurance claim fraud is estimated to cost the insurance industry in excess of £1.5 billion each year which, unfortunately, is added to the consumer's insurance premium.

Motor fraud consists of three main areas:

• Exaggerated Accidents
  In this instance the amount of damage is inflated to increase the cost of car hire charges, body repair bills and any personal injury claims.
• Staged Accidents
  This is where vehicles are deliberately crashed into each other so an insurance claim can be processed. Quite often an unaware third party is used as part of the claim in what is known as a 'slam-on'. This is where the leading vehicle brakes unexpectedly and without reason, forcing the following vehicle to hit it in the rear.
• Non-Existent Claims
  Quite often there is no actual incident. The vehicles have been damaged deliberately without them being involved in an accident to allow a claim to be processed.

Davies & Gray are able to inspect one or both vehicles which have been damaged to ascertain the consistency of impacts. Any exaggerated or staged accidents are likely to be uncovered in this inspection.
